My focus is working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. My passion is being a part of helping people learn better and more effective ways of communicating. Watching them communicate and work through their issues in a way they have never done before is why I enjoy couples and family therapy. I have worked with children who have difficult behaviors for several years, so I have a great understanding of the support parents need in order to cope with their child’s struggles. I also treat areas of grief, adjustments, depression, anxiety, anger, and other mental health related issues and personality disorders.
Sunshine State Counseling Center has two therapist’s/co-owners: Diana Salazar, LCSW, RPT (who is fluent in both English and Spanish) and Megan Goddard, LCSW, RPT. At our center we empower individuals, children and families to build and develop their strengths by providing therapeutic services based on a compassionate, ethical and professional approach.
I see children, teens, adults, and families. I use a combination of treatments including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Structural Family Therapy. DBT is a cognitive behavioral treatment that is effective with a wide range of issues including, anxiety, self-harm, depression and suicidal ideation. Structural family therapy focuses on increasing communication within a family.
