The Mental Health Association of Southwest Florida assists individuals needing referrals to mental health professionals and service, as well as, to other social services and provides information related to mental health issues
The Mental Health Association of Southwest Florida offers an educational program designed for families going through a divorce. Understanding the children? reactions to divorce and learning how to help them cope is the primary focus of the program. Parents are encouraged to learn skills to effectively co-parent their children. Classes are led by trained facilitators.
Putting Children First, a four-hour, court mandated class for parents designed to raise awareness of the emotional trauma the break-up of a family can cause children. It helps parents understand that children have the right and need to have, to be with and to love both parents.

Child/Adult at a Time
One Child at a Time, One Adult at a Time is a one-of-a-kind
counseling program in Southwest Florida linking low-income
working adults and their children who are in need of mental
health services and have no insurance or financial resources
with mental health professionals who offer pro bono
services.

throughout our region
informing Children and their parents of our programs,
services, and special events.
The Workplace Wellness Program is designed to facilitate a mentally healthy worksite. Through this program the MHASWFL helps employees and supervisors better deal with mental health at the worksite by offering educational workshops specifically developed to meet the current needs of the workplace. Our mental health professionals address issues ranging from Cultural Diversity to Stress Management, helping employees strengthen communication skills, building successful working relationships and developing tools for conflict resolution. All materials are provided free of charge by the presenter. The length and intensity of a program is flexible to insure success and enhance the learning experience.
Continuing Education Programs
The Mental Health Association of Southwest Florida is authorized to facilitate programs and symposiums which are qualified to provide continuing education credits to licensed mental health professionals, social workers and psychologists. Continuing education seminars are based on the needs of our professional community. We offer these seminars 4-6 times per year.
This program utilizes seniors and caregivers to provide emotional and mental support to other seniors and caregivers in need. Peer counselors use their skills and life experience to provide the opportunity to talk with someone who may have experienced similar difficulties and therefore understand them.
Staying Healthy, Depression, & Veterans support groups meet weekly and provide assistance to individuals suffering from conflicts in their lives. Some of our participants have been attending these support groups for more than ten years with positive results. These support groups are offered as part of our community outreach and are offered at no charge
Screening Days
For depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders are available on an anonymous, confidential basis. Screenings identify symptoms, but do not provide diagnosis.
The Guide to Mental Health Services is updated annually and provides for a quick reference guide to social services in the Southwest Florida community.
The Directory of Licensed Mental Health Professionals is updated annually and contains licensed mental health professionals. In addition, the directory has a list of other social service agencies in the community.
Mental Health Matters, our monthly e-newsletter, which keeps the community, updated on important mental health issues. We are striving to keep everyone abreast of our programs, support groups, forums, events and fundraising activities.
The Mental Health Association of Southwest Florida Web- Site, referral information, calendar of events, divorce class applications are just a few things found on our expanding site. There are also video clips and links to other services, as well as, our e-newsletter.
